Giants, Marlins Linked to Surprising Trade Before MLB Deadline

Fri, 2025-07-11 10:34

The Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants could represent very viable trade partners before the MLB trade deadline, but one recent move was suggested that would come as quite a surprise. Kevin Barral of Fish on First recently published a piece on Marlins catcher Nick Fortes, who appears to be the odd man out in a rotation that features Agustin Ramirez and Liam Hicks, both of whom have been very impressive during their rookie campaigns. While the Giants may be more interested in prying away one of Miami's pitchers or an outfielder like Jesus Sanchez or Dane Myers, Barral named San Francisco as a potential landing spot for Fortes, who would not exactly represent a flashy acquisition for anyone.

Rafael Devers Breaks Silence On Red Sox-Giants Bombshell

Fri, 2025-07-11 09:00

The Boston Red Sox no longer have Rafael Devers on the roster but have still been mixed in some drama involving the former Boston star. This week, it came out that former San Francisco Giants star Will Clark offered to work out with Devers at first base but he didn't end up showing up. Clark talked about it and shared the workout would've been during the Red Sox series and would've been at a time that it would've been in front of his former team so he wasn't surprised Devers didn't do it. The story has taken on a life of its own and Devers responded, as shared by the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.

Giants Legend Has Historic Start Nearly Matched by Marlins Young Star

Fri, 2025-07-11 08:00

The San Francisco Giants have had plenty of legendary players don their uniform throughout the franchise's history. Back in 1959, he began his Hall of Fame career with a bang away from San Francisco, getting the job done with regularity when the team was on the road. McCovey was tearing the cover off the ball on the road to begin his career, needing only 32 games to reach the plateaus of 20 singles, 20 extra base hits and 10 home runs.

Fri, 2025-07-11 05:45

San Francisco Giants legend Will Clark is calling BS on all the drama surrounding slugger Rafael Devers. In his podcast, “Dueces Wild,” on Thursday, Clark took exception with Boston Red Sox announcer Will Fleming. Fleming first reported on WEEI Afternoons that Devers didn't show up to a “walk-through” of first base with Clark last month. “I just gotta tell you right now, this is a bunch of bulls---,” Clark said, via YouTube . “That's first off. Second off, hey look, that was, let's see, that was my first encounter with Rafael Devers. So I didn't even know him before those 2-3 days that I spent in San Francisco. So, you know, Rafi and I are fine. I'm gonna work with him whenever I get around to

Yankees Released Former Star Veteran Could Be Solution for Major Giants Issue

Thu, 2025-07-10 19:00

The San Francisco Giants have exceeded expectations this year in the first season of the Buster Posey era, still finding themselves right near the playoff picture over halfway through the year. When Posey was hired, there was hope he could turn around the direction of the organization, but he has started to do it a whole lot quicker than most expected him to. As the Giants approach the trade deadline, they must make the decision whether or not they are going to go for it now or build for the future, and there is one major lineup question that needs to be solved one way or the other. San Francisco has struggled at first base all season long, and as of right now, it does not look like new DH Rafael Devers is going to slot in seamlessly right away.

Giants Receive Solid Midseason Grade Despite Recent Inconsistent Performance

Thu, 2025-07-10 16:00

Coming into the 2025 MLB regular season, not much was expected from the San Francisco Giants. Under new leadership with Buster Posey taking over as president of baseball operations, many expected it would take some time for him to leave his imprint on the roster. A three-time World Series winner as a player, getting the Giants back to that level of prominence, many people thought would take some time. Since Posey retired as a player following the 2021 campaign, San Francisco has yet to really challenge for a playoff spot, winning between 79-81 games all three years.

Thu, 2025-07-10 15:34

On Monday, Caltrain, a commuter rail service that runs from San Jose through San Francisco, posted a TikTok mocking L.A.'s car-centric reputation. In the video, two people dressed in Giants gear decide between driving or taking Caltrain to Oracle Park.

Giants Pitcher Justin Verlander Accomplishes Unfortunate Feat

Thu, 2025-07-10 14:00

The San Francisco Giants have had a great season and are coming off an impressive series win against the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite a really poor end to June, the Giants have turned things around in July so far. With a massive three-game series coming up against the Los Angeles Dodgers before the All-Star break, San Francisco would love to build some more momentum. Both Robbie Ray and Logan Webb have been fantastic, with both making the All-Star team.

SF Giants face slumping Dodgers to end first half — with changes on both sides of rivalry

Thu, 2025-07-10 12:21

The Giants and Dodgers enter their three-game set to end the first half on different trajectories. San Francisco (51-43) bounced back from its worst stretch of the season and has won six of its last eight games, catapulting back to second place in the NL West. Los Angeles (56-38), by contrast, has lost six straight after being swept by the Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers. Manager Bob Melvin, though, isn't taking much stock in which team is surging and which team is slumping.
