Press Release: Zack Gelof to Make Season Debut Against San Francisco Giants
The Athletics reinstated second baseman Zack Gelof from the 60-day injured list and placed infielder Luis Urías on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 3 with a strained right hamstring, the club announced today. The A's also announced that left-handed pitcher T.J. McFarland, who was designated for assignment a week ago today, has been released. Gelof started the season on the injured list after having right hamate surgery on March 24. Urías was batting .239 with seven home runs and 18 RBI in 71 games with the A's. He was on the Opening Day roster and started 63 games at second base and four at third base.
Can Justin Verlander Figure Out How To Get His Game on Track for Giants?
The San Francisco Giants recognized there were some risks associated with their approach to addressing their starting rotation in the offseason. When ace Blake Snell decided to move on in free agency, opting out of his contract and signing a long-term deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team had to find a replacement. The future Hall of Famer was coming off the least productive season of his career with the Houston Astros, but there were some signs that he had something left in the tank to offer to the team. Things haven't gone according to plan, with Verlander making 13 starts and yet to win a game.
Is Veteran Giants Ace Being Overlooked in NL Cy Young Conversation?
The 2025 National League Cy Young race is shaping up to be one of the deepest in recent memory, with several high quality arms all currently vying for the prestigious honor. Pittsburgh Pirates' young superstar Paul Skenes has been leading the charge for most of the way up to this point, but guys like Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler and Los Angeles Dodgers Japanese hurler Yoshinobu Yamamoto have both been excellent as well. One name that has fallen somewhat under the radar, despite having excellent numbers of his own, is the San Francisco Giants star Robbie Ray.
SF Giants-Athletics rivalry has devolved into the battle for Yolo County
The Athletics have fallen and can't get up. The Giants, even after splitting a four-game series in Arizona, are nine games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers win too often to make up that kind of ground. Maybe it's fitting the Giants and A's will play their final series of the season against each other in a minor league ballpark.

David Ortiz Rips Rafael Devers, Talks Red Sox's Next Move
It's been a few weeks since the Boston Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants and the dust has settled by now, for sure. Boston moved on and has started to get some of the pieces from the deal to the big leagues. Jordan Hicks recently returned from the Injured List and Kyle Harrison is in Triple-A working his way up as well. Devers is in San Francisco and has struggled offensively since the deal sent him out of Boston.
Robbie Ray throws complete game, Giants beat D-Backs to split 4-game series
Robbie Ray threw his first complete game since 2017, Rafael Devers had three RBIs and the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-2 on Thursday night. The teams split the four-game series, with the Giants winning the final two. Ray (9-3) retired the first 12 batters before Eugenio Suarez led off the fifth inning with his 27th homer of the season to cut San Francisco's lead to 4-1. The veteran left-hander needed 102 pitches to navigate his nine innings, giving up three hits, including two solo homers, walking one and striking out seven. Ray pitched for the D-backs from 2015 to 2020 before being traded to Toronto. He won the AL Cy Young with the Blue Jays in 2021. Robbie Ray #38 and

Ray throws second career complete game as SF Giants split series in Arizona
The Giants went into their series finale at Chase Field with a bullpen in need of a breather. Wednesday night's 6-5 win, 10-inning win required manager Bob Melvin use five relievers: Erik Miller, Spencer Bivens, Randy Rodríguez, Tyler Rogers and Camilo Doval. Doval, in particular, threw two innings for the first time in three years, blowing a save in the ninth before locking down a win in the 10th. Melvin would've been happy if Robbie Ray went seven innings.
Giants' Robbie Ray gets complete-game win over D-backs
Robbie Ray dominated Thursday, tossing his second career complete game to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 7-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix. Ray (9-3) needed just 102 pitches to go the distance. Beating his old team gave Ray his first win since June 5 and helped the Giants salvage a split in the four-game series. Willy Adames scored three runs and doubled twice as part of a 3-for-4 night with a walk and an RBI.
