Giants make Bob Melvin decision for 2026
The San Francisco Giants have decided to exercise their 2026 option on manager Bob Melvin, the team announced on Tuesday. Melvin, who has been an MLB manager since 2003, is in his second year with the Giants, who are currently 45-40. The announcement comes as the Giants are on a three-game losing streak, with just three wins in their last 10 games. Of course, organizations don't make these decisions based on a week or two of tough results, and as team president Buster Posey said, Melvin is one of the most respected managers in the game.
San Francisco Giants Leaders, Broadcaster Speak on 'Frustrating' Road Trip
The San Francisco Giants made a huge splash when trading from Rafael Devers, hoping to boost the offense. San Francisco went 3-3 in their first six games post trade, but looking forward in the schedule, it looked like there was a chance to make up some ground as they faced the Miami Marlins and Chicago White Sox in back-to-back series. Despite all of the excitment surrounding the team post-Devers trade, the Giants had arguably the worst stretch of the season, going 1-5 in that stretch. Swept by the Marlins, losing the White Sox series directly after caused some in the organization to speak out.
San Francisco Giants Caught Break After Deal with Star Free Agent Fell Through
The San Francisco Giants made a huge splash in free agency this past offseason, signing shortstop Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million deal. It was the largest contract in franchise history, with the Giants addressing a major need in their alignment and adding what they hoped was an impact player to an offense that was lacking punch. Adames has not produced at the plate as much as the team had hoped with a .209/.297/.340 slash line, hitting only nine home runs and 11 doubles after launching 32 long balls with 33 doubles last year with the Milwaukee Brewers. On a postiive note, he has returned to being an above-average defender after a down 2024 with the glove and an absymal start to his Giants tenure defensively.
Diamondbacks and Giants Square Off for Game 2 of Big Series
The Arizona Diamondbacks took game one of a four-game series Friday night from the San Francisco Giants. Ryne Nelson pitched a brilliant game, and the offense and bullpen did just enough to secure a 4-2 victory. Game two of the series is Tuesday night, first pitch 6:40 p.m. The D-backs are back to .500 with a 42-42 record.
Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen meets Giants, looks to avoid double-digit losses
The head-to-head between NL West rivals began on a low-scoring note when the Diamondbacks recorded single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to prevail 4-2 in what had begun as a stellar pitchers' duel between San Francisco's Logan Webb and Arizona's Ryne Nelson. Gallen has gotten a decision in 14 of his 17 starts, including a loss his last time out in a 7-3 road defeat against the Chicago White Sox in which he allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings. A 10th loss Tuesday not only would see the right-hander join Antonio Senzatela of the Colorado Rockies and Mitch Keller of the Pittsburgh Pirates as baseball's lone double-figure losers so far this season, but also would equal his career high, set in his 4-10 campaign in 2021.

Why did Torey Lovullo take out Ryne Nelson vs. Giants?
The groans began quickly after Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo exited the dugout and walked toward the mound in the seventh inning on Monday night. Starting pitcher Ryne Nelson was throwing a gem, having shut out the San Francisco Giants through 6.2 innings. Arizona led 2-0. Boos turned into cheers as the crowd acknowledged the effort from Nelson, while Juan Morillo entered the game.
