San Francisco Giants placed Patrick Bailey on the 10-day injured list with a strained neck on Wednesday and selected the contract of Porter from Triple-A Sacramento. Porter had to scramble to get from Seattle on Wednesday morning but arrived in time for batting practice at Coors Field before Wednesday night's game against the Colorado Rockies.

Giants Miraculously Keeping Pace in Crowded NL West Despite Woeful Offense

Wed, 2025-06-11 14:00

The San Francisco Giants' lack of offense this season has been well-documented, and as June continues to creep along, their issue doesn't appear to be going away any time soon. Manager Bob Melvin has tried just about everything to get his guys going at the plate but has come up empty at every turn thus far. As of this writing, the Giants are currently slashing just .229/.307/.396, all of which rank amongst the bottom third in all of baseball. Logic tends to point towards this lack of offense spelling disaster for a team in a division as crowded as the NL West, but San Francisco has miraculously found themselves at the top of the standings out west despite their woeful results on offense.

Any hope that the San Francisco Giants will get their Gold Glove third baseman back in 10 days is no longer in the cards. The Giants placed Matt Chapman on the injured list with a sprained right hand. Chapman must only be on there for 10 days and can be activated on Jun 19. Well, that won't be happening, according to Chapman.

Giants Sign Quality Veteran Reliever From Division Rival To Bolster Bullpen Depth

Wed, 2025-06-11 09:05

The San Francisco Giants are off to an outstanding start to the 2025 season, currently holding a 39-28 record, good for second place in the National League West. Any competitive team needs depth for long run, and they need players who can eat innings while keeping the team on the right track during injury setbacks. The Giants have honed in on that all season long, and will now continue to do so, as they have signed former Colorado Rockies reliever Scott Alexander to a minor league deal as was reported by Jeff Young of Fansided.

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... DENVER — Mike Yastrzemski hit a go-ahead single in a four-run ninth inning, and the San Francisco Giants beat Colorado Rockies 6-5 on Tuesday night for their sixth win in a row — all by one run. Colorado has lost four straight following its first three-game winning streak and fell to a major league-worst 12-54. Willy Adames and Casey Schmitt homered for the Giants. Jake Bird, Seth Halvorsen, Tyler Kinley had retired 12 consecutive batters and Colorado led 5-2 before Schmitt's home run off Zach Agnos (0-3) leading off the ninth. Giants trade idea lands them breakout slugger to boost ailing offense

Wed, 2025-06-11 08:22

A slumping San Francisco Giants offense got even more bad news this week when star third baseman Matt Chapman landed on the injured list. With Jung Hoo Lee (.239/.288/.352 since April 19 ) and Mike Yastrzemski (.181/.264/.234 since May 6)  in the midst of prolonged slumps and free-agent acquisition Willy Adames still struggling to find his footing, the Giants have been forced make desperate moves for offensive production, such as signing free agent Dominic Smith and inserted right into the fifth spot in the order.

Former MLB Executive Names Orioles Slugger as Favorite Giants Trade Target

Wed, 2025-06-11 08:00

The San Francisco Giants have proven to be a legitimate playoff contender this year, keeping pace with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres in the loaded National League West race. The pitching staff has been excellent all year long, good enough for the team to compete. It won't be any easier in the foreseeable future with star third baseman Matt Chapman heading to the injured list, but other players are going to have to step up in his absence. The Giants are patiently waiting for their free agent splash, Willy Adames, to start producing at the level he showed he was capable of during a career 2024.

With Tuesday night's one-run win, the Giants become the fourth team since 1901 to win six consecutive one-run games, joining the 1989 California Angels, 1927 Chicago Cubs (seven games) and 1916 St. Louis Browns.

Robbie Ray, battle-tested Giants take aim at lowly Rockies

Wed, 2025-06-11 06:23

The San Francisco Giants apparently are more comfortable with nail-biters than blowouts. San Francisco is setting the pace in the majors with 29 one-run games and played in its eighth straight such contest Tuesday night, winning 6-5 over the Colorado Rockies in dramatic fashion in Denver. The Giants will go for their seventh straight victory on Wednesday with Robbie Ray (8-1, 2.44 ERA) pitching against Colorado's Kyle Freeland (1-8, 5.19) in a matchup of left-handers. San Francisco again won't have third baseman Matt Chapman available after he was placed on the 10-day injured list with a hand injury sustained on Sunday against Atlanta.

Tue, 2025-06-10 22:18

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a sprained right hand after a weekend injury against Atlanta. Chapman, 32, is batting .243 with 12 home runs and 30 RBIs in 65 games during his second season with the Giants, who signed him in September to a $151 million, six-year contract through 2030.
